As the old guy of the team I have over 20 years experience of training, education and youth work, I still have loads to learn and have a passion to work alongside young people to see them reach their potential.
Youth Worker & Volunteer Manager
I have been involved with the Breathe for 15 years – first as a young person, then as a youth worker and I now manage our youth work and our awesome team of volunteers. I have a passion for people, youth work, youth ministry and Jesus. I love my wonderful fiancé, my amazing family, and going to the gym or walking the beautiful hills and Munros of Scotland. I have the vision to see Churches across the UK providing a balance of professional youth work and youth ministry. Enabling young people to have an opportunity to explore the Christian faith if and when they choose too. I have been blessed enough to help start and develop a couple of different Church projects and have 8 years full-time experience and gained a qualification (my first!) in youth work. I’ve worked for a couple of different youth work projects and gained experience in working in other countries such as Poland and the US. My favourite thing about being a part of Breathe is the incredible community. And the privilege of being part of the lives of others – both young people and team – and the excitement seeing our work grow.
Children and Youth Worker
I am a Children and Youth Worker with the Breathe Project, and have been involved for just over a year. I studied History at the University of York, but have always had a passion for working with children and young people. I have worked as a Children’s Festival volunteer at Greenbelt Christian Arts Festival, was a Student Ambassador whilst at university, and also supported children and young people as a Residential Assistant on various holiday programmes. Other than working with children and young people, I am happiest when I am on stage, as I absolutely love drama and theatre! My favourite thing about being involved with Breathe is getting to know all our amazing local young people!
I have been working for the Breathe Project since December 2018 and I’m a youth worker involved in arrange of things like the youth group Rock steady, teen drop in, the monthly breathe events and also 1 to 1 support. I became a part of the Breathe project because they do great things for the local young people and have had a huge impact on my life so would love to be able to help make any local person’s life a bit happier. Growing up I was part of the Breathe project and was involved in both the rock steady committee and breathe committee and then later on volunteered at rock steady most weeks. I loved every aspect of being on the committees the organising events going on trips and just being in a tight unit where you always knew you would be supported.
